Carpe Diem | Nature Trippin’

June 17, 2018 (Sunday)

‘Twas a really fine Sunday morning, just a typical day wherein we usually spend time with our family. Since, today was the annual celebration for father’s day, I was doing things to prepare for our lunch that day; I was just starting to grill the meat that we will eat for lunch when Mafet called me. I answered her call but we are just answering each other’s question again and again, (I think the line was not so stable, that’s why we can’t hear each other) moments later, Nieleth called me again, this time, medyo nagkakarinigan na kami she was mumbling something that I can’t understand about “hiking”, “Gango”, “gear up for nature tripping” things like that. And then I received a text message coming from Bless saying, that we will have a picnic somewhere in Gango; behind the airport’s runway and a photo walk. Ibig sabihin, mag lalakad lang kami?! Starting where, and ends where, I don’t know.

I was in total disbelief, really, walang halong joke. I was like, “whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?”, “bakit ngayon ko lang nalaman ito?”, “dili ko prepared”, (I smell myself) “wala pakuy ligo and I smell funny” I literally utter those words. But when you are that kind of person, who loves adventure and want to explore some new places, I said to them that “I’m in” just like that.

Later in the afternoon…

We meet up at the convenient store just beside MU, at 2 pm. and then we start our unanticipated long journey. First, we rode a cab to get to Gango, building resources to meet up with Ella, prepared the things that we will bring there and then, we start our long hike. Our starting point is the Building Resources in Gango, and then we pass some fields, and some beautiful wild flowers that sprout just beside the pavement of the highway. We stop for a while to take some photos of the beautiful fields and flowers. After that, we continue our stroll, and then we pass a seminary it’s called “Dupim Seminary” in Gango, the landscape of the seminary’s front yard was astonishing, there are these (I think there are a dozen of these trees) ravishing trees in the seminary’s front yard, the branches of these trees form an amazing tree-arch. Before you can enter the front door of the Seminary, you need to pass under the shade of these trees. It’s amazing though, but we don’t have the chance to take a photo of that amazing landscape. I don’t know why, but we suddenly become shy of the place, I don’t know if it is us, or the place that made us turn back our heads and continue on our looooong walk.

I guess that was more or less 45 minutes when we arrive at the Gango Airport, we go straight behind the airport’s runway, where we found a beautiful green field, as we go deeper to the little forest where I don’t, know hundreds or more different species from the animal kingdom resides; a perfect example of a forest which is rich in biodiversity, there we find a small and shallow river (parang di naman yata maliit at mababaw iyon). I was afraid to enter the forest at first, I was scared that we might not find our way out, but the view inside that little forest was breathtaking. It was very peaceful, the only noises that you will hear, are the sound of the running water from the river, the chirping of the birds, and the cold, refreshing air. It was sure a very peaceful place.

We look for a nice place to stay and where we can settle down our things, we stay there for I think another 45 minutes, just talking about nonsense topics and just fooling around just like the good old days. I was just wondering that every time, we are together, we never ran out of things to say and things to talk about. And that’s what makes us inseparable.

After that more or less 45 minutes nonsense talks, we start taking photos on the things that captured our attention, that momentum really took forever. After an hour, we decided to pack our things up to go home, so, we begin again the looooooooooooong walk that we did earlier. It was pass 5 o’clock PM that day, we even captured the beautiful sunset when we are on our way home. And then, after a few moments of the endless walk, we finally get a cab to drive us home. It was a really good experience though, it’s tiring. Imagine, we walk for around 8 kilometers back and forth, duuh, it really gives me lot of body pain, but I enjoyed it though, I wonder when will it happen again.

The Poverty of the Woman Who Turned Herself into Stone

“Into stone, This struggle Has turned me Into stone.” She has no hands. She is the folded hand. A fist, frozen. Permafrost Anger that cannot thaw into sorrow. She has no eyes She is the blinded eye. She is her own blinding dark. At noon, her socket carries the night. She is all ears. Voices weigh her down. She sinks into a swill of noises. Silence is not always her own choice. She wears a monochrome of gray. Clowns, orphans, soldiers at war – Their laughter has that stone – Texture of gray. The poem entitled “The Poverty of the Woman Who Turned Herself into Stone” is a classic Filipino poem that was written by Lina Sagaral-Reyes , a classic Filipino poet. The story that was describe by the poem is pretty harsh, and that makes the poem more interesting and mind boggling. The speaker of the poem, which is a woman, sees and describes the situation of the character presented in the poem. The poem is in the third person point o...

But The Western Stars

One Beautiful starry night Set me adrift on the bay tonight, Tonight when the gray winds blow Over the waves to the western stars My banca and I must go You would have built me an altar here Where lingers the wave born dew And I would have taken the silver dusk To gather young dreams for you But the western lagoons and the lonely stars -  They whisper across the sea And I must go to a misty shore  That calls through the dark to me. Then set me adrift on the bay tonight, Tonight when the sad winds blow And over the wave to the western stars Evening and I will go The poem entitled "But The Western Stars" is a classic Filipino poem that was written by Angela Manalang - Gloria, a Filipina poet in English Language. The story that was describe by the poem is pretty sad, but that was one of those factors that make the poem beautiful and nostalgic.  Traditionally, this poem is read as a meditation on death. In traditional...

Wanderlust | Villa Tagalog; Panaon, Misamis Occidental

This blog post really took forever. This post took me days to finish, and it took me two months before I posted it here. I was really tired and exhausted these past few days that my thoughts and ideas are blur and disarray. I can’t concentrate on making the draft of this blog post (I make drafts first before posting) because I was soooooooooooooooooooooooooo (yeah, that’s an exaggeration, but no, I’m serious.) tired I feel like I am not myself and I always daydream which I don’t usually do (I wonder what is happening to me). Pero, sa awa naman ng diyos, natapos ko rin. So, keep reading! This is actually my second entry in this category Wanderlust. My last one which is the first entry is where we go to Tangub City to witness their Christmas symbol and straight to the Municipality of Aloran for their Buka Beach last year, that was December (if you hadn’t read that entry, click here ). I don’t get to travel as much as I wanted to because of my hectic schedule, but I will try m...
