College Best Buddies

This is actually the part two of my last blog entry entitled “Best Buddies”. Which is this one: here. On this post, I only posted their pictures without mentioning their names or who they really are. You might wonder that I keep on saying the name of my friends here and you guys might ask “who the hell is she talking about?!” So, to avoid that one, I decided to write this entry. Allow me to present to you the best set of college friends that I received as a gift from God.

Bless Marie Rama

Well, well, where will I begin?

I first met her during my 2nd year in high school that was June 2010. First day of school, when I happen to sit beside her; because the only vacant chair that time was the chair right next to her (I don’t have a choice but to sit beside her even if I don’t like her. HAHA! Joke lang! Of course I do love her!). I was very quiet that time, because I don’t know my classmates yet (first day of school nga diba? HAHA!). And, it happen that she approach me first; (out of boredom, I guess.) so, we exchange names (charot! Parang exchange gift lang?!). She is my first ever friend that time. And I guess that is the start of our friendship. But I thought that we will be together for the whole school year, but I was wrong (expectation vs. reality). Because it happen that her name was not listed on our class list and she mistakenly thought that she belong on our section.

But fate have other plans for us. (charot! HAHA!) Because when I was in my last year in high school, that was June 2012; I was terrified (HAHA! joke lang, na gulat lang.) when I saw her again; and this time her name was on our class list. But, she have her own small world with her bunch of friends, so, I was alone again; but we remain casual to each other. We still exchange some Hi and Hellos.

The real story began when we started college; we took up the same course, and that is the mere reason why we are so close to each other. In our barkada, she is the funny one (as in, SOBRANG NAKAKATAWA niya). She jokes a lot. And she also have that malupeeet na punch lines. When you have that one friend whose laugh is funnier than the joke HAHA! In our barkada, she’s the rich kid (mahilig din siyang mang libre). But, in serious times, (siya din ang pinaka-seryoso HAHA! hindi ko pa siya nakitang nagalit. I will not either wish to see her in rage. I love her being funny!) She plays guitar the acoustic one, and she knows how to use the drums.

Krissa Niña de Lara

We call her “sang-sang”, but sometimes she will insist that we call her by her nickname which is “Niña”, but we still call her “sang-sang” anyway. She is the musikera in our barkada. Why not? Her father is a musician as well as her big brother (nasa dugo nila ang pagiging musikero). She knows how to play the guitar, piano, and the organ. She also know how to compose a song (why not? Musikera kaseee). She also have that wonderful voice (why not uleet? Musikera kaseeee HAHA!). She loves Sungha Jung. Do you guys know him? Aside from the fact that he is a Korean, which explains the name, he is also a South Korean Musician who specializes in acoustic finger style guitar. She loves to watch some videos of him and try learning his style. She’s kind, beautiful, (charoot!) funny. She also dance, but singing is her forte.

Chresmae Lumingkit

She is the religious one in our group, but, she’s not catholic like most of us. We call her “Esme” or “Esmeralda”. She don’t want to hear us cussed or say some unwanted things. What I like about her is her cheekbone HAHA! (Joke lang!). Seriously, what I like about her is that she can keep some secrets (sa kanya ko sinasabi lahat ng secrets ko and problems. And she really can be trusted). She also gives me some advices on how to solve/deal with my problems. She is very caring and concern about us (laging nagungumusta), and sometimes she is the one who run some important and little errands for me when I’m busy. And that’s what I love about her. She also know how to play the guitar, and sometimes she teaches me how to use it. But as what is expected, I’m having a hard time learning how to use it (please bear with me Esme. And thank you for your patience). She is also fun to be with.

Maria Angela Mabasa

Like me, she is also an avid Taylor Swift fan that's what we have in  common. Sabi nga niya, Taylor inspire her to write. We all know - okay, most of us know that Taylor Swift write her own songs (Parang si Taylor ‘yung naging motivation niyang magsulat). For those who don’t know, Ella is a writer. She writes poems, articles, essays, she even wrote my oratorical piece last February for our MURSO Festival. And her pieces was not just good, it’s very good. I think she have a hundred, or more poem collection that she wrote by herself (out of boredom, I guess?). She never have a boyfriend since birth (now, now, look who’s talking? HAHA!) But, we never supported her love life. Buhay-pag-ibig niya ‘yan eh, who are we to interfere? Diba? She is also a coffee addict. Adik sa kape, ayan, palaging puyat. HAHA! JOKE LANG. She likes spicy foods. (kapag kumakain kami ng pizza, puno ng hot sauce ang pizza niya.)

She also loves CAT, a lot, to the point that she’s starting to look like one. HAHA joke lang! (Peace Elle!)

Sometimes, she will became childish, but other than that, she really is a very good friend.

Nieleth Jalem

Our bossy dude! HAHA just kidding, but no, seriously, she is the “lider ng barkda” type of friend. She is also the oldest HAHA but I guess, wala sa hitsura niya, (wait, what? Ano toh? Bumawi lang? HAHA!). She is also the matalino in our barkada, she’s very studious. She is intimidating sometimes (for me) when she is serious and I’m scared of her when she’s pissed (tahimik kasi siya pag na iinis and it’s kinda creepy). But other than that, she is a good friend. She is also funny (mahilig mag joke. Partner sila ni Bless. HAHA!).

Lailanie Deligero

The artistic dude! She is very good when it comes to art. She’s very good at drawing and painting. She also writes poems and love to read books and novels. She is the youngest in our barkada, she loves anime and also, she have a plan on creating her own manga series in the future and it will be launch successfully (well, *cross fingers* hopefully *winks*) . She is also a good companion and a good listener. Whenever we are alone, I can tell her my issues and problems in life, she is there listening to my complains and musings (even though she doesn’t have to, pero thank you na rin LAI!). She jokes a lot and laugh at her own jokes HAHA!

Marco Jason Capalac

Our unica hija! HAHA! No, seriously, he is the only male in our barkada, that’s why we call him that way pang asar lang? He is that good-boy-next-door type of person. Unlike those typical college students that you will encounter in school who have some vices (kuu ‘ke bata-bata pa ehh nag sisigarilyo na at marunong ng umiinom ng alak! Paluin ko kaya kayo?! HAHA! Just kidding). Even though that he is the only girl este boy in our group, he never complains. He rides along with our corny jokes, sometimes present in some of our gala or unexpected escapade. He is kind, sometimes funny and fun to be with. He is also good in sport, basketball to be exact.

Princess Mafet Rizales

I first met her when I was in my last year in grade school, in fact we are classmates back then, but we are not that close to each other unlike now. She’s very good when it comes to dressmaking. What can you expect? Her father is a dressmaker. Have I mention that she’s also a KJ? (HAHA! Hi ffet!) Like for example, when we wanted to do something crazy, and we have some unexpected gala; she is the one who oppose and sometime she will not come on those unexpected gala. (HIHI peace ffet! I love you!) But, other than being KJ, she have a good heart and a good friend.

Arrah Jane Senia

We call her “rrang” because Arrah is a very long name for us who have a short memory HAHA! Joke. She have a very colorful love life and I kind of envy her (wait, what? NO! What am I saying? HAHA! Just kidding.) In our barkada, she’s the voracious one (as in, lakas kumain pero payat pa rin HAHA! I guess God gave her a very fast metabolism). And also, she’s the emotional (ang daling umiyak. Especially when it comes to err.. uhm.. lovelife. Hehe hi Arrah!). She’s also very generous. The version two of Bless, as what I was saying a while ago. In the group, she’s the fashionista and she loves make up.

There, there, now you know my college best buddies. That’s only ¼ of who they really are, and one more thing, when we are together, we are VERY, VERY LOOOOOOOUUD, we create so much noise like those audiences do when their favorite singer is having a concert in the MOA arena.

HAHA! Just so you know, and also, my friends have dirty minds. Like what they say, things are a lot funnier when you have a dirty mind; well, that’s true.

And I have noticed, as I wrote this entry, that my friends have their own talents. I think most of them are good in arts and music and Jason is good at sport (napansin niyo ba?). And I think I am the only one in our barkada who doesn’t have any talents or skills (AM I? I don’t know, I haven’t figure it out yet. Sad life.)

The Poverty of the Woman Who Turned Herself into Stone

“Into stone, This struggle Has turned me Into stone.” She has no hands. She is the folded hand. A fist, frozen. Permafrost Anger that cannot thaw into sorrow. She has no eyes She is the blinded eye. She is her own blinding dark. At noon, her socket carries the night. She is all ears. Voices weigh her down. She sinks into a swill of noises. Silence is not always her own choice. She wears a monochrome of gray. Clowns, orphans, soldiers at war – Their laughter has that stone – Texture of gray. The poem entitled “The Poverty of the Woman Who Turned Herself into Stone” is a classic Filipino poem that was written by Lina Sagaral-Reyes , a classic Filipino poet. The story that was describe by the poem is pretty harsh, and that makes the poem more interesting and mind boggling. The speaker of the poem, which is a woman, sees and describes the situation of the character presented in the poem. The poem is in the third person point o...

But The Western Stars

One Beautiful starry night Set me adrift on the bay tonight, Tonight when the gray winds blow Over the waves to the western stars My banca and I must go You would have built me an altar here Where lingers the wave born dew And I would have taken the silver dusk To gather young dreams for you But the western lagoons and the lonely stars -  They whisper across the sea And I must go to a misty shore  That calls through the dark to me. Then set me adrift on the bay tonight, Tonight when the sad winds blow And over the wave to the western stars Evening and I will go The poem entitled "But The Western Stars" is a classic Filipino poem that was written by Angela Manalang - Gloria, a Filipina poet in English Language. The story that was describe by the poem is pretty sad, but that was one of those factors that make the poem beautiful and nostalgic.  Traditionally, this poem is read as a meditation on death. In traditional...

Wanderlust | Villa Tagalog; Panaon, Misamis Occidental

This blog post really took forever. This post took me days to finish, and it took me two months before I posted it here. I was really tired and exhausted these past few days that my thoughts and ideas are blur and disarray. I can’t concentrate on making the draft of this blog post (I make drafts first before posting) because I was soooooooooooooooooooooooooo (yeah, that’s an exaggeration, but no, I’m serious.) tired I feel like I am not myself and I always daydream which I don’t usually do (I wonder what is happening to me). Pero, sa awa naman ng diyos, natapos ko rin. So, keep reading! This is actually my second entry in this category Wanderlust. My last one which is the first entry is where we go to Tangub City to witness their Christmas symbol and straight to the Municipality of Aloran for their Buka Beach last year, that was December (if you hadn’t read that entry, click here ). I don’t get to travel as much as I wanted to because of my hectic schedule, but I will try m...
