Wanderlust | Christmas Symbol; Tangub City, Buka Beach; Aloran

Every one of us wants to travel, admit it or not. Even you, I know that you have that desire to travel mapa abroad man o probinsya. Well, who would not love the idea of traveling? Where you can see some wonderful places, witness some unique cultures, and appreciate historical landmarks. But for us first time excursionist, we take one baby steps at a time. We decided to visit the Christmas Symbol capital of the Philippines which is Tangub City (malapit lang kasi). It is like an annual escapade for our barkada, since Nieleth and Krissa just got home from Manila and Chresmae from Cebu.

We talked about this escapade of ours on the late days of October, we have list of places to choose from; whether we will be going up north, down south or across the bay.

Early days of December; but we are still undecided where we would go. Our first choice are Tangub City and Fantasyland, but our schedules are conflict. Second choice; Tangub City and Seven Seas Aqua Park, but they say that is time consuming since we only have one night and one day on our schedule. Third choice; Tangub City and Eribertha Resort in Molave, but our problem is the place where we would stay since we will arrive on Tangub City at night and for sure there will be no hotel rooms available on that time of the night. Fourth choice; Tangub City and Alonas beach resort in Jimenez, but we’ve been to Alonas a couple of times and we wanted to see something new. Fifth and last choice; Tangub City (Laging nasa choice namin ang Tangub City diba? It is like an annual escapade and gala, and Tangub City and its Christmas symbol is our starting point.) and Buka Beach resort in Aloran, our last option and choice.

On the night of December 29, 2017;

We met at the Agora bus terminal for the bus that we will rode to get there in Tangub City. At exactly 7:15 pm, the bus that we rode leave Ozamiz, and we arrive there at Tangub around 7:45 so, it’s like more or less 30 minutes of travel. After we arrive at their Integrated Bus terminal, we go straight at the heart of their city, which is their plaza. Nieleth, Ella, and Daryl ate their dinners first, while I, Bless, Krissa, and Lanie meet Chresmae at the Rizal Monument there in the plaza.

After that, we just enjoy the scenery of the place. The lights of their Christmas Symbols are stunning; as always. We took as many photos as we can savoring the joyful moment that we are still together. And then Bless suggest that we will play a game called “FREEZING MOMENT”. We will play a game in the middle of a huge crowd?! What a crazy idea! But we still go along with her. She explain the mechanics of the game to us, and then viola! We’re playing it. It’s embarrassing, because you do some crazy things in a huge crowd, but I enjoy it though, it’s like we do the Carpe Diem!

And at exactly 10:30 pm, we rode the last trip of the bus. We arrive here at Ozamiz, at exactly 11 pm. I tried sleeping on the bus on our way home, because I know, I can’t make a goodnight sleep for sure, because I know, we will sleep late, and probably we will sleep at dawn.

We are tired and sleepy pero, tuloy parin kami. Gorabells lang mga bessh! Haha! We spend the night at Ella’s place, we cooked spaghetti, and spend the night just fooling around, just like those good old days.

In the morning of December 30, 2017;

We started our day at exactly 7 in the morning. Krissa and Nieleth cooked the foods that we will bring in Buka Beach, after that, we ate our breakfast. The usual funny talks and nonsense jokes was replace by a serious atmosphere when we found out that Krissa will be leaving for Norway. That was the reason why she was in Manila for almost two months to process her credentials there, and now she’s waiting for her visa to come. She said that she will go there to study the Norwegian culture for two years. She also said that she will have a foster family who will adopt her and sustain her daily needs. She said so many things but I can’t totally grasp all of them because I’m too focus of her going to Norway! She was talking about the “AUPAIR” website where she apply that job.

Well, I’m happy, and at the same time sad, I’m happy because little by little her dreams of traveling abroad will be fulfilled; but I’m also sad because that will only mean that we will not see her for two years, and she will not be with us on some special occasions.

Okay, going back to the real topic, after we ate our breakfast, we prepare the things, and the foods that we will bring to Buka Beach. And at exactly 9:30 in the morning, we leave Ella’s house. We rode a bus again for the Municipality of Aloran. I think it took more or else an hour ride to Aloran and another 30 minutes tricycle ride to reach the Buka Beach.

I thought we will enjoy their inflatable aqua park, as what their fliers say, but when we arrive there, there is NO inflatable aqua park; they took it due to the consecutive tropical storm that bring a havoc of strong winds that make some big wave, and huge amount of rainfall that washed out some bridges and cities. But despite of not having the inflatable aqua park, gorabells parin! Nandoon na kami. Haha!

So, we just enjoy the big waves, salty sea air and the wind blowing our face and hair. I fell in love with the ebb washing up the shore, it feels like it take all my worries, problems, and issues in life away, even just for a short period of time. That is what I love about beaches, I feel like I am so close with Mother Nature. HAHA! Ang drama mo Nikka! Eww! But no, seriously.

Around 3:30 in the afternoon, we start packing up our things and washed ourselves and put some dry clothes on. Exactly 4:15 in the afternoon, we start our long walk out of the Buka Beach.

Summarizing it all, I arrive at our house at exactly 7 in the evening. I feel very tired, drained and sleepy but it is so worth it. I’m looking forward to our next gala and escapade. Godspeed guys!

The Poverty of the Woman Who Turned Herself into Stone

“Into stone, This struggle Has turned me Into stone.” She has no hands. She is the folded hand. A fist, frozen. Permafrost Anger that cannot thaw into sorrow. She has no eyes She is the blinded eye. She is her own blinding dark. At noon, her socket carries the night. She is all ears. Voices weigh her down. She sinks into a swill of noises. Silence is not always her own choice. She wears a monochrome of gray. Clowns, orphans, soldiers at war – Their laughter has that stone – Texture of gray. The poem entitled “The Poverty of the Woman Who Turned Herself into Stone” is a classic Filipino poem that was written by Lina Sagaral-Reyes , a classic Filipino poet. The story that was describe by the poem is pretty harsh, and that makes the poem more interesting and mind boggling. The speaker of the poem, which is a woman, sees and describes the situation of the character presented in the poem. The poem is in the third person point o...

But The Western Stars

One Beautiful starry night Set me adrift on the bay tonight, Tonight when the gray winds blow Over the waves to the western stars My banca and I must go You would have built me an altar here Where lingers the wave born dew And I would have taken the silver dusk To gather young dreams for you But the western lagoons and the lonely stars -  They whisper across the sea And I must go to a misty shore  That calls through the dark to me. Then set me adrift on the bay tonight, Tonight when the sad winds blow And over the wave to the western stars Evening and I will go The poem entitled "But The Western Stars" is a classic Filipino poem that was written by Angela Manalang - Gloria, a Filipina poet in English Language. The story that was describe by the poem is pretty sad, but that was one of those factors that make the poem beautiful and nostalgic.  Traditionally, this poem is read as a meditation on death. In traditional...

Wanderlust | Villa Tagalog; Panaon, Misamis Occidental

This blog post really took forever. This post took me days to finish, and it took me two months before I posted it here. I was really tired and exhausted these past few days that my thoughts and ideas are blur and disarray. I can’t concentrate on making the draft of this blog post (I make drafts first before posting) because I was soooooooooooooooooooooooooo (yeah, that’s an exaggeration, but no, I’m serious.) tired I feel like I am not myself and I always daydream which I don’t usually do (I wonder what is happening to me). Pero, sa awa naman ng diyos, natapos ko rin. So, keep reading! This is actually my second entry in this category Wanderlust. My last one which is the first entry is where we go to Tangub City to witness their Christmas symbol and straight to the Municipality of Aloran for their Buka Beach last year, that was December (if you hadn’t read that entry, click here ). I don’t get to travel as much as I wanted to because of my hectic schedule, but I will try m...
